Price Residence
An addition and renovation to a typical New Orleans single shotgun near the Fairgrounds in the Bayou St. John neighborhood. By using the cross section of the original three room single shotgun as a conceptual extruded form, this renovation respects the original structure while creating contemporary spaces as you move through the house. The extrusion is lifted, creating a well-known camelback typology. Programmatic requirements are handled throughout the new addition by using a series of inserted cabinets to create and define the new spaces. The form culminates in a rear courtyard that we refer to as the “music catcher.”
