DeClouet Hall Renovations (UL Lafayette)
Location: Lafayette, LA
Area: 16,230 Square Feet
Client: University of Louisiana, Lafayette
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is modernizing DeClouet Hall, one of the campus’s oldest and most iconic buildings, originally constructed in 1903. This 16,230 square-foot facility is undergoing a comprehensive renovation to meet current standards for safety, accessibility, and functionality, all while restoring the historic charm and architectural integrity.
While the reconstruction involves replicating the building's original form, we utilized demountable walls and designed the building to be completely adaptable to the university’s future needs. Key updates include extensive asbestos abatement, ADA-compliant accessibility enhancements, and the addition. The project also incorporates modern systems such as new HVAC, energy-efficient LED lighting, advanced fire suppression, and ensuring the building operates efficiently and sustainably.
This renovation underscores the university’s commitment to innovation, safety, and accessibility, creating a space that meets the evolving needs of its users today and for generations to come.
