NOAA Miami Lab - New Facility Programming
Location: Miami, FL
Client: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Through this Program of Requirements (POR), NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service sought to determine how best to support the scientific research mission of the Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC) Laboratory located in Miami, Florida. The process included multiple on-site interviews over the course of 4 months with research staff and thorough architectural documentation of facility needs.
The SEFSC is responsible for scientific research on living marine resources that occupy marine and estuarine habitats of the continental southeastern United States, as well as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The SEFSC is one of six national marine fishery science centers responsible for federal marine fisheries research programs. The information provided in the POR document assesses the needs of the existing SEFSC facility, evaluates any shortcomings of the existing facility, and identifies all program requirements needed by the staff of over 230 people to perform state-of-the-art scientific research in support of the SEFSC’s mission.
