LaPlace Volunteer Fire Station No. 51
Location: LaPlace, LA
Client: St. John the Baptist Parish
Fire Station 51 is the first of three stations to be designed for St. John the Baptist Parish. This new design will replace the existing main volunteer fire station, as the Parish moves away from a volunteer force and towards a career fire department. This design will also provide a new vocabulary for the fire department as it will symbolize the change to the professional department. The program for this new station includes all of the fire department administrative functions, four fire apparatus, and sleeping quarters for a shift of fourteen fire fighters. The station will also serve as the fire department’s emergency operations center in the event of a major catastrophe.
